THE LIARS
WITH SUPPORT CORRIGAN

SUNDAY MAY 2
THE FRONT PAGE 8.00PM

Fear is a very powerful emotion.

The Liars are a deranged acceleration of post-punk groove, avant noise, bizarre pop sensibilities and an enduring love for the minimal funk of ESG.

Operating from the artsy enclave of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the Liars have slayed fellow New-Yorkers with chaotic and brilliant live shows that sowed seeds for the subsequent punk-funk revival that’s so wantonly hip nowadays. From the same scene as The Rapture and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Liars take this p-funk angle to a new level of menace and art.

The brilliant chaos that Liars achieve recalls the emotion, if not the sound, of fellow New Yorkers Sonic Youth, when they cut their epochal “Bad Moon Rising” album. The Liars are a band in transition, severing their ties with the scene they inaugurated and have now, decidedly, outgrown.

This is a band defining themselves only in terms of what they wish to achieve, the limits of their imagination.
