Vinny Peculiar is the Manchester based singer-songwriter and
alias of Alan Wilkes christened by UNCUT ‘as the Tony
Hancock of pop.’ A former psychiatric nurse and erstwhile
poet he writes for several minor publications on the fine
art of self destruction whilst creating recordings of great
poignancy and self deprecation earning comparisons with the
grand duchy of glum himself, Morrissey.
A regular compere on the Glastonbury acoustic stage Vinny
has toured with artists as diverse as British Sea Power, Jools
Holland and Edwyn Collins. His new album Growing Up with Vinny
Peculiar is available now on Shadrack and Duxbury Records.
