ACCESSION
NIGHT FEATURING TERRA FOLK |
|
|
MONDAY
MAY 3
THE JOHN HEWITT 8.00PM
To mark Accession Day on May 1 when 10 new countries join the
EU, the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival is delighted to host
a celebration of the cultures of our new partners.
Described as a world music sensation, Slovenia’s most
explosive export, Terra Folk, are a fearsome foursome of musical
magicians who can whip an audience into a frenzy within minutes
and have them kicking off their footwear in festive abandon.
Each member of Terra Folk brings a different musical background
to the mix, including, folk, jazz, classical and alt. Rock.
Together they play a ridiculously eclectic mix of musical styles,
including Gypsy, Russian, Slovenian, Irish, Mexican, Jewish
and Klezmer.
A typical medley would take in Bach, Led Zeppelin and a Donegal
reel and whatever you’re having yourself, all underscored
with a bawdy sense of humour. This promises to be a fantastic
night, all served up with food from the incoming EU countries.
Prepare to be mesmerised and don’t forget to bring an
extra pair of socks.
Supported by the Office of First Minister and Deputy First Minister
Tickets £7.00 available from the Festival office
and Belfast Welcome Centre on 028 9024 6609
