  FESTIVAL AMERICANA
SUNDAY MAY 2
THE JOHN HEWITT FROM 2.00PM

JUST AN AMERICAN BOY
2.00PM
One of the great contemporary songwriters, Steve Earle is also a free spirited, independent thinker. Here we see both the man and the intensely committed artist.

Recorded during his last concert tour of America at the point when Earle became one of the most vilified men in the country for his stance on the Gulf War.

Among the film’s treats are fabulous renditions of some of his greatest songs, like ‘Copperhead Road’, ‘Guitar Town’, ‘Come Back Woody Guthrie’ and ‘Jerusalem’.

A film by Amos Poe

Admission free

HEARTWORK HIGHWAYS

4.00PM

James Szalapski’s fabled documentary about the rebirth of country music around Austin and Nashville in the mid-70’s features Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Rodney Crowell, David Allan Coe and Steve Earle amongst many others.

The film affords a rare insight into the lives of this unique set of maverick artists, and the opportunity to experience their inspiring and beautiful music in an intimate setting and from an intensely personal perspective.

Admission free
