Electric Eel Shock
This is the deal. Bonkers Japanese metallers make a glorious,
brain searing racket that is the aural equivalent of Godzilla
dancing on Tokyo. One can only sympathise with rock because
this lot are going to not only feed on its decaying corpse,
but suck its bones dry, retune its ears and give it a face
lift.
If your looking for reference points try these for size: Slayer,
Nirvana, John Spencer, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Big Black, Nepalm
Death and Deep Purple can all be found lurking in some shape
or form within the burning cauldron of punk blues metal.
The Evangelists
Manic, insane, inspired - these are three words that you could
quite happily apply to Donegal originated nutters The Evangelists.
Their music is a mix of wacked out lyrics, funked up bass,
full on drums and spaced out guitars. Imagine Captain Beefheart
jamming with Primus and you’ll be getting close.
Giddy Motors
South London natives Giddy Motors combine their jazz influences
with angular US punk tendencies to create a veritable Pop
sensation. They’ve kidnapped funk, jazz and punk and bundled
them into a stolen car that is careering down the highway.
The fact that Steve Albini produced their last album should
give an indication of their current stature.
Slomatics
Newcomers of the night, Slomatics are a sludge doom power
trio worshiping at the altar of feedback, Black Sabbath, Big
Muffs, THE RIFF, and heavy heavy rock!
