Kid Carpet
and his collection of Fisher Price guitars and plastic toys
is the genius known as ‘the low budget Beck’.
Musically, his tunes growl, purr and leap with punchy, sampled
beats, pounding baselines and ground-breakingly fat breaks.
Crowd favourites include Nelson Street Space Invaders, with
his frighteningly cool take on Van Halen’s Jump coming in
a close second.
But it is the enthusiastic, jiving and honest simplicity of
singing that steals the show. So used are we to seeing a couple
of skinny, terrified waifs cowering behind their computer
screens at live shows, that Carpet’s performance will leave
you flabbergasted.
In him is the dynamism, the unquestionable talent and the
sheer enjoyment of both music and performance that make for
a incredible live gig.
Jinx Lennon is part folk punk poet, part gospel music energy
preacher He hails from Dundalk and has released two highly
acclaimed CDs and delivered stunning live shows supporting
the likes of Hamell on Trial and The Fall.
