  KAT FRANCOIS

Artist in Residence Throughout the Festival

Kat Francois is a performance poet on with a strong reputation as a fearsome performer, a skill which saw her become the first winner of the BBC 3 TV Slam Poets show held in October 2004.

A dynamic and intense performer who has a very musicalstyle. She describes her performances as energetic and diverse and her work is both political and sexual.

Poetry ‘slams’ evolved from the jazz and hip-hop scene in New York in the late Eighties where the stand-up skills of comedy merged with the lyrical dexterity of rap.

Kat will host the Cathedral Quarter Poetry Cup and will be available for workshops where she combines her background in Dance and youth work experience to create interactive, issue-based workshops.

To book Kat for a workshop contact Sarah Hughes on 028 90232403
