THE LINE UP (Son of Cheap Date!)

Wednesday May 4 | The Marquee | 8.00pm

Across the Line, BBC Northern Ireland’s champions of good music present an evening of up and coming Irish musical talent for Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival. ATL has recently moved from the wireless to the small screen, but the commitment to local live music remains. Join host David O’Reilly for an evening celebrating the more raucous end of rock with some of our bestest friends.

Republic of Loose

They’ve got soul and your’re damned right they are soldiers. Dublin’s ragged but rakish funk fusiliers are back for one night only. To the uninitiated it’s an odd proposition. Five feral young urchins earnestly howling for higher ground. There are a few moments when it looks like it might fall apart and crumble under the weight of its own ambition but many other moments when the love will keep lifting you higher. Keep the faith.

Fighting With Wire
The Derry upstarts return hot off their UK tour with Milliondead. This gig effectively forms the launch of their brand new single through Schism records. Expect the highest of energy levels, barrel-loads of tunes and blatant disregard for their own equipment. Recent features in mags such as Kerrang have helped cement their reputation as one of the mist exciting live prospects in UK and Irish rock.

Bellcrash
Belfast’s live jazz/dance pioneers are gearing up to record their second LP following the success of the Suzume Park debut. Lush beats combined with noodle-free brass action for total head and feet stmulus. Some of Northern Ireland’s finest jazzmen are in the ensemble brought together by electronica duo Mark Bell and Paul McMahon. This is a rare chance to catch the live experience.

Tickets £3.00 from Belfast Welcome Centre or www.cqaf.com
