Melting
Pot is a musical celebration involving many of Northern Ireland’s
ethnic cultures. Performers from Africa, Asia, Europe and
beyond will feature on a bill that brings a highly positive
face to the issue of diversity in our ever-changing society.
The artists will either be residents in Northern Ireland,
or will have a very strong connection to the place.
Among the
acts featured are Talking Drum - A Zimbabwean act which
performs Shona with percussion and mbira (thumb piano).
Dr Yueping Fang plays traditional Chinese music on the stringed
instrument, Er Hu.
MC Krow and Johnny Dangerous from the Explosion Sound System
deliver reggae with an Afro-Celt dimension. The night will
also feature music from The Indian Community Centre, including
tabla, harmonium, drum and percussion and Zina Saakashvila
from Georgia.
Hosted by The Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival in association
with Across The Line, BBC Radio Ulster. The concert will
be recorded for broadcast on Across the Line, Friday April
29 at 10.00pm
