NEW IRISH WRITING
FEATURING ADRIAN MCKINTY, TARA WEST & ZANE RADCLIFFE

THURSDAY MAY 6
DUKE OF YORK 9.00PM

Writing from the North often seems to move in cycles and right now there are grounds for optimism that a new wave of Belfast writers are coming through with their own distinctive voices, values and sensibililities. Tonight we showcase three of the most original and innovative of the new breed.

ADRIAN MCKINTY
Adrian McKinty was born and grew up in Carrickfergus at the height of the Troubles. He studied politics at Oxford University and after a failed legal career he moved to New York City in the early 1990’s. He initially found construction and bar work and now teaches in Boulder, Colarado. His new novel ‘Dead I Well May Be’ marks an explosive new voice in thriller writing.

TARA WEST
Tara West’s first novel, Fodder, was published by Blackstaff Press in 2002. Originally from Rathcoole, she now lives in Carrickfergus and works as a copywriter for an advertising agency in Belfast. She is currently working on her second novel.

ZANE RADCLIFFE
Zane Radcliffe was born in Bangor, Northern Ireland in 1969 and is now a Creative Director with a major advertising agency in Edinburgh. His first novel, London Irish (2002), earned him the WHSmith ‘People’s Choice’ New Talent Award.. His second novel, Big Jessie, is also published in Black Swan.
