Thirty-one years ago we sat next to one another in Miss Fisher’s Maths class. Twenty-five years ago we were the whole of Mr Nesbitt’s Russian class. (Andy: ‘I read War, Glenn read Peace.’) Twenty-three years ago we discovered White’s Tavern, round the corner from Crane’s bookshop, where I was the world’s skinniest Santa. About fifteen years ago we said, You know, it would be great to do a gig together some time. And this is it. (Come on, it used to take us five phone calls just to meet for a pint.) In between times I had a dream where I was drumming with Andy’s band. A great dream. Then I remembered I couldn’t drum. So no drumming tonight. Just songs and poems and bits out books.
