AFTERPLAY BY BRIAN FRIEL
FRIDAY 30 APRIL, SATURDAY 1 MAY
BEWLEYS CAFÉ 8.00PM

Take one character from Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya and one from The Three Sisters and have them meet 25 years after the plays’ conclusion.

The setting is 1920’s Moscow; a small run-down café. Uncle Vanya’s niece Sonya Serebriakova (Moninne Dargan), now in her 40s, is the only customer. Until the arrival of Andrey Prozorov (Louis Rolston), the put-upon brother from The Three Sisters. In AFTERPLAY, Friel maintains a gentle Chekhovian humour and gradually reveals the pain that has characterised the lives of these two unhappy people.

Tickets £5.00/£4.00 from the Festival office on 028 9023 2403

PIPPI & NANCY
TUESDAY MAY 4, WEDNESDAY MAY 5
DUKE OF YORK (GLORY HOLE) 7.00PM

Children’s book characters never grow up — or what if they did? Fifteen years after their fame has faded, Nancy and Pippi are pursuing their dreams in The Big City.  An important letter brings them together (in a bar, no less), and they learn they have more in common than would first appear.  But their budding friendship is challenged by the demands of their adult lives.

Should Nancy leave Ned?  Does she even enjoy sleuthing?  Just what does Pippi do all day and why is she knitting?  And finally, what do they do when they realize that they are just small fish in a big, big pond?

Adrianna Dufay and Annie McAdams are actors who live and work in New York.

Tickets £5.00/£4.00 from Festival Office on 028 9023 2403
