On Saturday May
5 the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival will host a day
for women interested in becoming involved in the Arts.
If you would like any help or advice on how to get your
work published, performed or even help with getting started,
come down to this networking and information day which
will be held at the Community Arts Forum, 15 Church St,
Belfast, opposite St. Annes Cathedral.
On hand to give direct advice and assistance will be:
Kate and Joan Newman, Poets and publishers. Marie Jones,
award winning Playwright and Actress, Maureen Harkins,
Community Actress & Development Officer @ CAF. Shakti
Theatre Co. Moyra Donaldson, Poet and Tutor of Creative
Writing.
The aim of this venture is to inspire more women to contribute
to the Festival and hopefully bring their work to be showcased
in future festivals thus adding to the cultural life of
Northern Ireland in general.
With this in mind there will also be a series of workshops
listed below.
Also on the day there will be an opportunity for participants
to suggest which workshops they think would be most helpful
to their development as artists.

Already included in this years festival are performances
which would not be happening if the festival had not been
approached and made aware of their existence. Remember
this facility is here and please take advantage of it
in the future. It is the policy of the festival to include
work by women whenever possible.
