On Saturday May 5 the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival will host a day for women interested in becoming involved in the Arts. If you would like any help or advice on how to get your work published, performed or even help with getting started, come down to this networking and information day which will be held at the Community Arts Forum, 15 Church St, Belfast, opposite St. Anne’s Cathedral.

On hand to give direct advice and assistance will be:
Kate and Joan Newman, Poets and publishers. Marie Jones, award winning Playwright and Actress, Maureen Harkins, Community Actress & Development Officer @ CAF. Shakti Theatre Co. Moyra Donaldson, Poet and Tutor of Creative Writing.

The aim of this venture is to inspire more women to contribute to the Festival and hopefully bring their work to be showcased in future festivals thus adding to the cultural life of Northern Ireland in general.

With this in mind there will also be a series of workshops listed below.
Also on the day there will be an opportunity for participants to suggest which workshops they think would be most helpful to their development as artists.

If you don’t ask you won’t get:
Already included in this years festival are performances which would not be happening if the festival had not been approached and made aware of their existence. Remember this facility is here and please take advantage of it in the future. It is the policy of the festival to include work by women whenever possible.
