The Hall of Fame is a carnival arts project being co-ordinated by the New Belfast Community Arts Initiative.

The project aims to create life-size models/puppets of renowned Belfast cultural, sporting and folk heroes and heroines whilst encouraging debate and exploration around the theme of local heroes and their meaning for the city as a whole. In the long term the project will establish a community resource for use by groups in a range of community festivals and events in Belfast and beyond.

To date, 24 carnival puppets have been made by 8 community groups across the city and teams of professional artists.
Participating groups include: Parkside Community House (North) Sandy Row Community Forum, Nubia Arts and Windsor Women’s Centre (South) Ballybeen Women’s Centre and Lord Street Tenants Association. (East) Belfast Traveller Support Group and the Newstart Project (West).

During the Cathedral Quarter Festival the eight-foot carnival giants will be on exhibition in North Street Arcade.

Carnival puppets include: Brian Kennedy, Wayne McCullough, Mary Peters, Alex Higgins, Sam Storey, Uncle Andy, May McFetridge, Julian Simmons, Jim McDonald, Candy Devine, Paul Rankin, Ruby Murray and Sharon Corr.
