Set
in John Ryans famous Bailey Pub,
Duke Street, in 1950s Dublin, two of Irelands
most notorious literary figures, Brendan Behan and
Patrick Kavanagh, discuss their successes, failures
and love lives in Irelands capital city.
The play captures the literary brilliance of Behan
and Kavanagh, their humour, music and sadness. It
portrays their different childhoods, the streetwise
Behan from the inner city North Dublin and Kavanagh
from the harsh infertile soil of County Monaghan.
The play allows Behan to be at his most outrageous
and Kavanagh to be at his most vitriolic. And as
in life the pint of stout is an essential
Prop on stage for both characters.

Compiled from part 1 of Becketts novel of
the same name, Malloy tells the story of an ageing
tramp on an epic bicycle journey to find his mother.
Along the way he is arrested for indecently resting,
interrogated, released and almost rearrested for
killing a dog. Fortunately the dog was on its
way to be put down and the owner settles for taking
Malloy in as a replacement.
