For a large number the music of John Prine is revered, passed on by word of mouth and loved for it’s poetic narratives and melodic strength. Championed by the likes of Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash and Dylan himself, this is an opportunity to celebrate the work of one of America’s greatest living singer/songwriters.

A host of local singer-songwriters are lined up to give a retrospective look at the great troubadour’s career. If you would like to take part please phone the festival office

At the forefront of the distinctly new urban movement titled alt. country Brett and Rennie Sparks’ Handsome Family duo cast a ‘delightfully doomy’ light on the intricacies of love, life, lithium and lethargy.
They could easily be pigeonholed as eccentric but their history and artistic paths navigate a far more complex route. Typically they have been slotted into the alternative or ‘insurgent’ country jigsaw alongside compatriots Wilco, Calexico and Lambchop, yet their melodic and sometimes morose compositions often defy categorisation.
