Osamu
Kuroda (Japan) will make a performance entitled Chinpunkanpun
(I can not understand anything) at 8.30. Born in 1931, Osamu
became involved in the avant-garde after the 2nd World War.
At the bottom of Japan’s social ladder, in 1988 he was
found by Donchan, a Butohist and Mr. Kogawa Tetsuo, a media
critic. He follows the Butoh idea of making performances and
as a way to live in the present.
At 9.30 Seiji Shimoda will make a performance entitled Action
Poetry. Born in 1953 in Nagano, Seiji is the most active performance
artist in Japan who performs his work at Festivals, theatres
and Museums throughout the world. For his performance in Belfast,
Seiji will use everyday objects in a poetic way to open up
resonances that lie deep within us.
