  SOUNDINGS:

A ONE DAY SERIES OF REHEARSED READINGS PRODUCED BY BELFAST THEATRE COMPANY IN ASSOCIATION WITH CQAF
SATURDAY 8 MAY
CLANMIL 11.00AM– 4.00PM

A MAN’S A MAN:
A theatrical celebration of the life and legacy of Robbie Burns by Belfast-based Scottish writer Tom Sweeney.

Written entirely in comic verse, the story of Scotland’s national poet is told including many of his best-loved works. It also relates the little-known tale of how an all-too-brief lustful encounter inspired Burns to write one of his most famous poems, To A Mouse.

THE DOCTOR:
The events of a day unfold through the eyes of two people, a university lecturer and one of his students. As the day wears on their stories intertwine, and through their contact with one another, they begin to realise things about themselves that perhaps they would have been better not knowing.Paul Kennedy has a degree in theatre and works as actor. His first play My Song Goes Round the World, recently premiered in the Group Theatre, Belfast.

PANTO & PORRIDGE:

A group of students take part in a drama project with a prisoners group, taking on rather more than they bargained for. Not all the prison staff are in favour of the project and as emotions rise, so does the drama.

This piece has been developed by Victoria Gleason and Kathleen McGrath of 2B Scene Theatre Company.

Admission is £5.00, contact the festival office on 028 90232403 to book a place.
