  LAUNCH OF DISABILITY ARTS CHARTER

Following on from the highly successful Good, Better, Best conference in September 2003, Open Arts, Community Arts Forum, Adapt NI and the Arts and Disability Forum are pleased to announce the launch of the Disability Charter for arts venues across Northern Ireland. The Charter aims to improve inclusion for disabled artists and audiences across the region in areas such as employability, access, policy, programming and participation.

The Charter will be launched by local artist Kym Lennon Gibney and Jim McSharry from Theatre Workshop in Edinburgh; Jim will also talk about British based organisations which have done similar work, facilitate a participative workshop as well as thrilling the audience with a performance.

The exhibition will run from 2pm Thursday 6th May to 4pm Friday 7th.

The Arts for Older People Network, presents a celebration of growing older, with an exhibition and series of creative workshops run for and by older people. Including drama, reminiscence and arts and crafts, the day will prove that there is something of an art to growing older…

Lunch is provided and admission is free.

  NEW BELFAST COMMUNITY ARTS INITIATIVE
THE BIG EVENT

 
 
SATURDAY 8TH MAY
CENTRAL HALL, ROSEMARY STREET, 1.30 –5.00PM


This colourful event aims to showcase the arts activity of 60 community groups working across five New Belfast projects. Weaving performance, dance, fashion, poetry, sculpture and film into a fast-moving, unique afternoon, the Big Event represents the strength and diversity of community arts in the city.

New Belfast will also be launching Side by Side, a new project to enhance opportunity for people with a disability to get creative. Feel welcome to come and enjoy a uniquely creative community event.
