Lunch for an exclusive pre-launch performance of his hotly-
anticipated fifth album Bella, out on February 1. Combining
uniquely observed lyrics, taut rock’n’roll stylings and touches of
reluctant romanticism, Thompson is a live performer of rare power.
Switching between tender love-songs and bitingly articulate pop
anthems, swathed in live-looped layers of guitar, piano and bass,
David Ford is finally translating critical raves into popular
