It's hard to think of a time when the local music scene has been so full of promise and a newly released promotional CD of local music produced by the Northern Ireland Music Industry Commission is suitably startling in its breadth and quality.
Featuring tracks by established acts such as Snow Patrol, Ash, Divine Comedy and Iain Archer, emergent acts Oppenheimer, Duke Special and Foy Vance, to the new contenders such as Cashier No 9, Boxcutter and Clone Quartet, the CD represents a small population who are more than punching above their own weight in creative terms.
Tonight's show will feature a number of those artists represented on the album including the mighty Oppenheimer whose indie electronica brims with gleaming, propulsive keyboards and light as air melodies.
