ELLIOT
SMITH TRIBUTE
THURSDAY 6 MAY
THE STUDIO, WATERFRONT HALL 8.00PM
The American singer-songwriter Elliott Smith died of a self-inflicted
wound last October, aged 34. He was immediately mourned by
his many fans, who had empathised with his tenderness, his
quiet humour, and the raw intimacy of his music. Albums such
as ‘Either/Or’, ‘XO’ and ‘Figure
8’ are all essential listening, while his beautiful
soundtrack work on ‘Good Will Hunting’ brought
him a Grammy nomination.
This tribute night will involve some Elliott Smith film footage,
including the ‘Strange Parallel’ feature, plus
renditions of his songs from the likes of the Desert Hearts,
The Killing Spree, Duke Special, and others, TBA.
Profits from the event will be donated to the Elliott Smith
Foundation. The night will be presented by Stuart Bailie,
who will also celebrate Elliott’s music on his Across
The Line show on Radio Ulster, Friday April 30, 10-11.55pm.
Tickets £5.00 available from Waterfront Box
Office on 028 9033 4455 anf Festival office on 028 9023 2403 |
