The
man in the mirror has turned towards us. He is smiling
and offering his hand to the camera. Its a queer
sort of smile: anxious, hopeful, despairing, painful,
friendly, warm, lost, confused, battered, dogged abandoned,
generous, frightened, hurt, shocked, determined and
ragged, but most of all genuine. I know it is genuine
because it is my smile and I am truly pleased to meet
you. Welcome to the desert.
For the past twenty years Oscar McLennan has been performing
his own monologues which combine a surreal black humour
with the emotional intensity of theatre. He has toured
extensively in Ireland, the UK and North America. .
Anne Seagrave is a Dublin based artist who devises vocal
and movement performances, soundworks for stage and
radio, slide projections and video art, installational
and site specific performances.
