The Celtic Lyre Orchestra has been formed out of The Celtic Lyre Project - an initiative from the Camphill Communities of Northern Ireland. This exciting project has designed, developed and built its own very high quality musical instruments- whilst working alongside and including adults with special needs.

The Orchestra provides a platform for players of mixed ability to perform on stage together - all performances include adults with special needs supported by other amateur players - plus professional special guests.

The 100 piece Celtic Lyre Orchestra has recently played to sell out audiences in Ireland’s two most prestigious venues - Belfast’s Waterfront Hall and The National Concert Hall in Dublin and featured guest appearances by Phil Coulter and John Sheahan (The Dubliners) – with the President of Ireland Mary McAleese in attendance.

The Celtic Lyre Project is co-ordinated by Clifford Paterson, and special guests on the night will include Uillean Piper Brendan Monaghan. The Orchestra will be conducted by the world’s only professional Lyre player - John Billing.
