OUT TO LUNCH ARTS FESTIVAL 6 -31 JANUARY 2010 / CATHEDRAL QUARTER

The Bittersweets
The Bittersweets + Guests
Sunday January 31
The Black Box, 2.00pm

From San Francisco, The Bittersweets are Hannah Prater on vocals and guitar and Chris Meyers on vocals, guitar, and piano. Together Meyers and Prater have the sort of chemistry that country rock legends are made of.

Prater’s voice has a silky smooth, gentle, dulcet quality with echoes of vocalists like Lucinda Williams, Natalie Merchant and Emmylou Harris. Meyers’ lyrics and music are thoughtful, never overwrought but instead lulling you into a war m comfortable place.

Louisiana Joyride are Orla Lynch and Owen McNulty. Mixing folk, blues and americana, with a distinctive local sound, the duo produce honest and original songs that always keep an audience engaged and entertained.

Lending further weight to an already powerful line- up is Lafaro frontman Jonny Black in his alter ego as a purveyor of broken hearted, sweet country blues.

It’s the last gig of the festival, we think it’s gonna be a good one.
