One evening at the Jazz Cafe, Camden in 2018, six artists came together in celebration of John Martyn’s music. It was an evening of deep connection, not just to John’s music, but also with a unique community of John Martyn fans. That night saw the sparks of what was to become ‘The John Martyn Project’ – an ongoing homage to a truly pioneering and unique musical soul.
Seven years later, the band has completed multiple successful tours throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe, filling venues such as London’s Union Chapel, Bristol Beacon, and standout shows at the likes of Manchester Folk Festival, Celtic Connections, Shambala and Shrewsbury Folk Festivals. The John Martyn Project are still bringing their own story and relationship to Martyn’s music, they continue to keep the spirit of his music alive whilst collecting stories and insights from the growing crowds they play to. With thanks to John Martyn and those that find connection in his music.
