In response to Covid-19 and the devastating impact it has had on the arts in Northern Ireland, we have created three creative bursaries to support and encourage new work by writers, musicians and theatre practitioners based in Northern Ireland.

Theatre Bursary
The Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival Theatre Bursary is designed to assist in the presentation of a theatre production in the 21st Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival (April 29 – May 9, 2021). This can be a new or existing text and is open to established or emerging theatre makers.

We wish to invest £3,000 in your idea for an innovative new theatre production. Please forward a synopsis of no more than 500 words outlining your theatre idea, ideal location, how you would use this money, and separately a budget breakdown and (200 words) short biographies of your proposed creative team.

Entries marked ‘Theatre Bursary’ should be sent to info@cqaf.com by 4.00pm, Friday 18 December.

Music Bursary
The Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival Music Bursary has been set up to assist in the composition and/ or recording of a new piece of music by a NI based artist and is open to an established or emerging musician or band.

We wish to invest £2,000 into the composition and recording costs of your music. Please forward an overview of your creative practice with an explanation as to why you need this investment in no more than 500 words accompanied by a short audio file with three examples of previous work.

It is envisaged that the piece/recording will be premiered in the 21st Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival (April 29 – May 9, 2021)

Entries marked ‘Music Bursary’ should be sent to info@cqaf.com by 4.00pm, Friday 18 December.

Writing Bursary
The Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival Writing Bursary has been established to help an early career writer move towards publication of a collection of poetry, short stories or novel.

We wish to invest £2,000 into this project which will allow you to work on your first collection or novel. Please provide an overview of your writing career to date, and an explanation of how you would use this money, accompanied by a short sample of your work.

It is envisaged that the Award winner will be invited to read from their work at the 21st Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival (April 29 – May 9, 2021.)

Entries marked ‘Writing Bursary’ should be sent to info@cqaf.com by 4.00pm, Friday 18 December.
