"Hegley is to potatoes what Wordsworth has been to daffodils."

THE OBSERVER

"Sublimely surreal comedy".
THE SCOTSMAN

"Just because he is one of the funniest men alive, don't underestimate his dedicated gentleness."

ADRIAN MITCHELL, NEW STATESMAN

John Hegley: Family Favourites McHugh's Friday 5 May, 8.00pm

John tells the truth about his brother-in-law (the kind of bloke who likes to stop and ask hitch-hikers where they’re going and then tells them he’ll get there first). He visits the scene of a painting by his father 70 years ago in Nice. He muses upon fathering, building sites, own goals, toffee and blancmange.

Hegley, bespectacled dog-loving poetic type, is widely known as one of the country's most innovative comic artists. He is a regular sell-out at The Edinburgh Festival. He has performed in Melbourne, Montreal & Arbroath. He has appeared on Wogan, Anderson, Sherrin, Ross, Richard & Judy and Blue Peter.

He is responsible for 9 books of poetry / prose / lyrics / drawings and one mug.
