"A deeply moving experience. Surprising and satisfying. The film poses tough questions about the nature of forgiveness [with] a generosity of spirit."
JAMES GREENBERG, HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

Shakespeare Behind Bars Vision Studio, 23 Donegall St. Thursday 4 May, 7.30pm

The Tempest, as performed by a cast of hard-bitten cons inside for violent crimes.Shakespeare's final play, with its images of isolation and its underlying theme of forgiveness finds echo in the prisoners' milieu, which seems more about confinement and punishment, than rehabilitation. But can the creative process help these damaged individuals become better men? Rogerson's acclaimed documentary, a year in production, watches as the prisoners confront their demons through the characters they play. Winner of 8 film festival awards, Shakespeare Behind Bars smashes many of our long held notions about prisoners and criminals as we watch these remarkably unique actors prepare.
