A native
of Cork and one of the greatest songwriting talents Ireland
has produced in many years, CQAF are delighted to invite John
up for a rare Belfast visit.
Spillane’s debut album The Wells of the World was one of the
best Irish albums of 1997. Christy Moore referred to it as
“an undiscovered gem of the 90’s”and covered Spillane’s song
Johnny Don’t Go to Ballincollig.
His talents as a musician are only the start of it. It is
rare to find a musician who is also such dedicated performer
and entertainer. Certainly there is no other singer-songwriter
in Ireland who can command such laughter between songs and
such attentive silence during them.
John is on the point of releasing his new album Hey Dreamer
making this an even more special event as Cork celebrates
its Capital of Culture.
Support is provided by the brilliant Finbar Magee whose original
songwriting about Belfast and Ireland mark him out as a rare
talent.
Tickets £6.00 available from Belfast Welcome Centre on
028 90246609.
