The
Secret Diary of Rabbie Burns is a rollicking piece of theatre
and a world premiere by Tom Sweeney. Randy Rabbie reads entries
and poems in progress from his everyday diary while his long-suffering
wife Jeanie (Victoria Gleason) finds and reads -with growing
horror - the secret salacious diary he keeps hidden in the
dog’s kennel and in which he recorded his many conquests.
Jean’s discovery leads to a crockery-chucking confrontation
and an awful chill between the couple until Rabbie manages
to restore peace to the Burns household by penning the greatest
love song ever written... before helplessly and inevitably
returning to his old ways .
