Set in 1959 in Donegal, a tiny rural community watch with
eager anticipation as the heroic E.S.B. workers battle against
the elements to bring power lines to the village. A host of
characters step forward from the mists of time to inhabit
this fictional parish in a truly inventive one-man show that
combines physical theatre, comedy, original music…
and even a car chase.
Brought to you by the creator of The Derry Boat, Rural Electric
is written and performed by Little John Nee with live music
from Laura Sheehan.
The play conjures up a world where ‘imagination is more
important than knowledge’, but at the
same time reflects a deep rooted respect for the characters
that inhabit rural Ireland by presenting a wry and comic look
at their peculiarities.
‘Rural Electric is a masterpiece of storytelling…little
John Nee delivers magic radiance to light the darkest day’
