Too long absent from a Belfast stage, Owen O’Neill has taken time out from the comedy circuit to produce the award winning stageplays Off My Face, It Was Henry Fonda’s Fault and My Son the Footballer.

With his coruscating wit sharper than ever, O’Neill will take no prisoners in a one man comedy tour de force.

O’Neills’ Belfast gags have a depth which other stand-ups would do well to emulate The Guardian

In his own inimitable way the late great Bill Hicks once described himself as, “Skin covering coffee and some real nervous teeth…” In reality Hicks was a comic incendiary device burning through the layers of the human condition whilst searching for the funny bone hidden deep within.

To hear him riffing on the Gulf War, abortion, manufactured pop, religion and a host of other subjects is to hear a man ahead of his time, struggling with his visions of the future and putting every breath into altering our collective path. Evolving ideas as he put it.

The First Circle of Comedy Hell will feature highlights from Sane Man; one of Hicks’ earliest and most critically acclaimed performances back to back with Revelations Uncut, a recording of his now legendary show at the Dominion Theatre, London in 1993.

Tickets £3.00 available from the Festival Office on 028 9023 2403
