 Christine Tobin

Dublin-born singer/songwriter Christine Tobin
has been living in London since 1987 and was
named Best Vocalist in the 2008 BBC Jazz
Awards. The award recognised her unique sound
bringing jazz, folk, blues and Brazilian influences
to her own compositions and dazzling covers of
others, including those of Bob Dylan, Leonard
Cohen, Rufus Wainwright, Elis Regina.
She has gained universal acclaim from the jazz
and wider music press and a reputation on the
scene as one of the most original and exciting
singers around. An artist of poise and purity, she
appears with her trio, Phil Robson (guitar), Dave
Whitford (bass) and Simon Lea (drums).
Christine works regularly on the UK jazz scene,
appearing at Ronnie Scott’s, Vortex, Jazz Café
and the Sage. In 2008 she released her seventh
album on Babel label Secret Life of a Girl and
toured the UK to rave reviews. |
