| | | | Broadcasting legend Joan Bakewell’s career spans forty- five illustrious years and counting. As a campaigning journalist and presenter par excellence, Bakewell has always adopted a fearlessly individual approach to her work, taking on television censors as easily as she does those who write off the elderly.
She wrote her autobiography a few years ago, but waited until she was in her mid-70s before penning her first novel, All the Nice Girls. The book, set in World War Two, is a wonderful evocation of period, time and place. Some of the narrative is set in Manchester and one scene takes place at The Midland Hotel.
CQAF is privileged indeed to host an afternoon with this fascinating writer and cultural icon. Book your ticket now for this very intimate event. | | | | | |
