| | | | Guest Speaker: Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern. Bertie Ahern served as Taoiseach from June 1997 to September 2008, a period spanning the most significant developments in the peace process, including the Good Friday and St Andrews Agreements, the establishment of the power- sharing Executive and the formal ending of the IRA and loyalist wars.
During this key phase he formed a prime ministerial double act with Tony Blair. They were both in place when the historic agreement was made between Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness, a political move confirming the peace.
Special Guests: Belfast singer/songwriters Gerry Creen and Leah McConnell. Recently Gerry has shared bills and stages with Juliet Turner, Mick Hanly and Nanci Griffith. Acknowledged as one of the city’s finest songwriters, his song A Rose By Any Other Name was recently described by the Irish News as “one of Ireland’s leading peace anthems”. Leah McConnell is rapidly making a name for herself in singer songwriter circles as a songwriter of immense power and subtlety. Presented by the David Ervine Foundation in association with CQAF. | | | | | |
