The Rap Canterbury Tales Waterfront Hall, Green Room Tuesday 2 May, 2.00pm (school performance 14+) The Black Box Wednesday 3 May, 7.30pm
One man rap artist Baba Brinkman started The Rap Canterbury Tales in 1999 as an experiment to make Chaucer’s stories accessible by adapting the language into a lively hiphop rhyme style. It is now a world wide success bringing the Tales to a wider popular audience as well as assisting educators to communicate Chaucer to their students. After showing at the Edinburgh Fringe the show was described by The Scotsman as “truly awe-inspiring...a sharp script and one charismatic and versatile actor” and was one of only two dozen acts out of 1500 to receive a five-star review. The show revolves around stories such as The Knight’s Tale, The Miller’s Tale and The Pardoner’s Tale.
