HOWL presents:
with
Everett True
SATURDAY 10 May
WHITES TAVERN 8.00pm
Inspiring. Innovative. Ground-breaking. Words not often
used to describe Atomic Kitten or Girls Aloud. But manufactured
girl bands werent always so predictably bland.
Groups like The Shangri-Las, The Ronettes and The Chiffons
sang of broken hearts and teen rebellion like it was
all that mattered and later inspired a generation of
girls with guitars to start kicking against the pricks.
LEADERS OF THE PACK rediscovers the joy of 60s
girl-beat and the musical grrrl revolution it spawned
over 30 years later.
Beehive hairdos and panda mascara optional.
Everett True is editor of Careless Talk Cost Lives music
magazine. He has written extensively for N.M.E and Melody

Rock Music in the 90s, it was True who first
introduced Courtney Love to Kurt Cobain. He has long
been a champion of strong women in music.
HOWL is a monthly alternative music queer club, run
