| | | | Though a strong Irish nationalist, Francis Ledwidge fought and died in the Great War. His work as a ‘peasant poet’ and ‘soldier poet’ is enjoying a strong revival.
Ledwidge embodies, in Seamus Heaney’s phrase, the ‘conflicting elements in the Irish inheritance’.
Author John Potter, will talk about Ledwidge as a war poet. The distinguished recitalist, Frances Mulley, will illustrate the talk with readings from the poet’s works.
There will also be a small display about Ledwidge.
