Colm Tóibín was born in Ireland in 1955. He is the author of several novels, including The Blackwater Lightship, which was short-listed for the 1999 Booker Prize, and The Master, which was short-listed for the 2004 Booker Prize.
His non-fiction includes Bad Blood, Homage to Barcelona and The Sign of the Cross. His work has been translated into seventeen languages.
Colm Tóibín lives in Ireland. His latest book is a collection of short stories, Mothers and Sons (2006).
