  Ann Zell & Joan Newman
  The Black Box
Friday 11 May, 7.00pm

Born in Idaho, most of Anne's working life has included periods as a secretary, researcher and community print worker while devoting energy to a succession of radical campaigns from the 60's.

Ann published her first collection Weathering in 1998. She launched her second collection in 2006 (Between Me and All Harm, Summer Palace Press). Ann is a founder-member of the Belfast-based women's poetry collective, Word of Mouth.

Joan Newmann was a member of the Philip Hobsbaum Belfast Group, which was established in 1963. She published First Letter Home in 1965. In 1991 the University of Ulster at Coleraine published Suffer wordstle Children and in 1994, HU published Circumcision Party. Her first collection, Coming of Age was published by Blackstaff Press in 1995. Joan's writer-in-residencies include the Verbal Arts Centre, Derry and Belfast City Hospital.

This promises to be a most memorable evening, with readings by two seasoned poets whose poetry encompasses time, place and distance.
