Amnesty International presents speakers from Guatemala (Jorge Velasquez) and Mexico (Neil Arias), each telling powerful stories of their demands for justice in the face of State indifference.
Since 2001, nearly 3000 women and girls have been murdered in Guatemala, many showing evidence of sexual assault. Half of women in Mexico suffer domestic violence. In both cases, the State does little. Impunity and an attitude of 'blame the victim' prevail.
This event focuses on two people who have tried to take on the system and demand an end to violence against women.
