Anyone new to Farmer Jason’s alter ego Jason Ringenberg, won’t know that this man brought alt-country to Nashville. With Farmer Jason, though—toddlers, teens, and beyond—can harvest a whole tractor load of fun.

Farmer Jason’s show takes listeners through a day at the farm, featuring a host of children’s songs that work hard from the rooster’s first crow to the last cricket-backed rays of sundown.

There’s just nothing not to like. Good music, catchy lyrics and charming narration. The farmraised Ringenberg has an ear for barnyard rhythms, creating chickens from guitars, horses hooves from banjo strums and tractor engines from wah-wah pedals. The lyrics combine educational themes with flights of fancy, but remain elemental enough for young children to learn and sing over and over.
