Twenty years since they were formed by Grammy-nominated musician and record producer Simon EmmersonAfro Celt Sound System have announced new studio album The Source to be released on the very day of this momentous concert.

One of world music’s top acts, with sales of over one and a half million albums and two Grammy nominations to date, Afro Celt Sound System celebrate their 20th anniversary with a stunning new album and an exhilarating live show that ranges from full-on club energy to moments of intimacy.

The Source celebrates the African and Asian roots brought to the band by long-term members vocalist, kora and balafon player N’Faly Kouyaté and Dhol drummer Johnny Kalsi. Along with founder member Simon Emmerson (producer, guitars, cittern), Davy Spillane (uillean pipe, whistles), Ronan Browne (uilleann pipes), Emer Mayock (Uilleann Pipes and Whistle) and Moussa Sissoka (talk drums and djembe) the album also features contributions from a host of other outstanding musicians which together fully demonstrates the eclecticism of the band’s music.

The Source is undoubtedly the most ambitious ACSS album yet, promising to take their cross-cultural collaboration and acclaimed live performances to another level, as evidenced by their rapturous reception at the sell-out Celtic Connections gig in January.
