Award-winning singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Julia Biel is blazing a trail on the British music scene with her vocals reminiscent of the greats of jazz’s golden age and poetic yet conversational lyrical style.

Her pioneering and self-produced debut album ‘Not Alone’ received exuberant critical praise on its release in 2005 (and led to a BBC Jazz Award nomination in the ‘Rising Star’ category). Ten years after her debut, she released her long awaited second album, ‘Love Letters and Other Missiles’ to no less acclaim.

A former Perrier Jazz Vocalist of the Year winner, her credits also include a MOBO nomination, an Urban Music Award nomination and featured guest vocals with the Mercury Prize nominated act Polar Bear on two out of their four albums released to date, a feature with Hidden Orchestra (Tru Thoughts) and featured lead vocals on underground house hits written in collaboration with Ben Watt of Everything But The Girl.

Alongside her own projects she is a core member f the afrobeat/reggae/dub group Soothsayers, as part of a tight-knit 3-part vocal harmony which fronts the band.
