Orchestre des Réfugiés et Amis is a music project developed by Beyond Skin. The project creates safe, welcoming spaces for musicians with Refugee or Asylum status to meet, collaborate, socialise and get creative with professional musicians.
Since launching the project in July, supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, a diversity of musicians involved have been writing and rehearsing songs, pushing intercultural music boundaries and raising awareness about Refugees.
A BBC Radio Ulster session in September, appearances at special events and a social media campaign driven by the groups visual artist, Rashid Khaidanov, has sparked much interest.
With local musician and Refugee support activist Joby Fox at helm as the music director the Orchestre des Réfugiés et Amis is an inspirational sound of Humanity at its best.
