Ájo Arkestra are a 10 piece afro-futuristic group who play an explosive blend of afrobeat, funk and global groove music.

Made up of members from 3 different continents with players from Cuba, Brazil, Africa and Europe the culturally diverse Ájo Arkestra perform a charged live show that has ignited dancefloors up and down the country playing a blend of free flowing Afrobeat rhythms and heavy dancefloor Afro funk.

Festivals such as Body ‘n Soul, Electric Picnic and Cork Jazz Festival have all felt the impact of their energetic infectious grooves.

The name Ájo was derived from the Nigerian language Yoruba meaning ‘journey’ while Arkestra is borrowed from one of band’s references, the trancendental Sun Ra Arkestra.
