Filthy Madonna
January 28
The Black Box, 7.30pm

Filthy Madonna is a monthly music and Wlm club running at the Black Box. Tonight’s offering from the Filthies (the girls wot run it) pays homage to Americana and features fine music and one of the few opportunities to see a screening of Route 66 by local legend & filmmaker John T Davis.

The screening is followed with live music from The Dregs– fourpiece countrypunkrocknroll. The band features three songwriters Terry, Jonny and Finbarr who sing with three very distinct voices. The singers swop guitars and three part harmonies while Neal provides a solid backbone on the drums. Jonny adds piano and harmonica here and there to create a stripped down, matt finish, spit n sawdust style.

DJ set til midnight comes from a music writer and broadcaster Stuart Bailie, known for his love of cracked, cosmic Americana. Expect music from the likes of Howlin’ Wolf, Dr John, Charlie Feathers, Tom Waits, Gram Parsons, John Lee Hooker, Janis Joplin and James Luther Dickinson.
